Marion Fire Department234 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Marion Village Stroll234 viewsThere were hundreds strolling the streets during the 2014 Marion Holiday Stroll on December 14. Celebrity sightings included Santa Claus on his carriage, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Sparky the Fire Dog. The Showstoppers and The Sippican School Marching Band lit up the afternoon until the tree lighting ceremony lit up the night, the finale of that starry-skied evening. Annual Marion SpringFest234 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Super Duper Summer Fair234 views The First Church of Marion held its Annual Super Duper Summer Fair on July 25. The fundraising event is a familiar, welcome event every summer in Marion, and it has something to offer everyone. Antique Car Show234 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot234 viewsThere were 31 registered runners for this year’s 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot for Marion Recreation on Sunday, November 22. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Marion Christmas Stroll 234 viewsThe Marion Christmas Stroll is one of the quintessential holiday events in Tri-Town, with Santa making his grand entrance via boat and hopping aboard a horse-drawn carriage to ride through Marion village with some lucky kids who hop aboard with him.
