Marion Fire Department184 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Rockets184 viewsThis past Wednesday and Thursday the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool groups constructed their own rockets. During lift off some went incredible distances, one ending up on a roof and at least one in a tree. The kids and the parents all had a great time. The Museum wishes to thank Mike and Alex Cronin of "Design Principles" for volunteering to help us construct and lift off the rockets, and all the many parents who stuck around to help with the construction and clean up afterward.

Annual Marion SpringFest184 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Antique Car Show184 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports.
