Living History 287 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean

Marion Natural History Museum287 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time constructing their own rockets. We added fins, nose cones, parachutes to the main body of the rockets, and then added protective wadding to prevent the rocket from exploding. We then headed outside to launch our creations. Every one of the rockets had a successful launch, thanks to the help and expertise of our many volunteers.
