Celebrity sightings included Santa Claus on his carriage, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Sparky the Fire Dog. The Showstoppers and The Sippican School Marching Band lit up the afternoon until the tree lighting ceremony lit up the night, the finale of that starry-skied evening. Annual Marion SpringFest265 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Chemistry of Tie Dye265 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's last afterschool program of this school year featured "Chemistry of Tie Dye" with Chemist Jessica Robidoux and coordinated by Dr. William (Toby) Dills of UMass Dartmouth's Chemistry Department. The Museum wishes to thank Ms. Robidoux, Dr. Dills, and all the many volunteers who showed up to help with the program. The fundraising event is a familiar, welcome event every summer in Marion, and it has something to offer everyone. Antique Car Show265 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. Each teacher devised their own scavenger hunt for the kids that helped the students discover their classrooms. Marion Memorial Day265 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch
