Tabor Academy Polar Plunge228 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. We discovered that the diamondback terrapin can live 25-40 years, and that the warmest part of the terrapin's nest will result in females and the coolest part, males. This two-act drama (dramedy) is about a retired couple enjoying a day at the beach when they meet a “sea creature” couple.
