Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a happy and fun-filled event. Many, many thanks to Grace Moran for her kind donation of frames complete with glass, which the students used to create their own masterpieces for gift-giving. 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot232 viewsThere were 31 registered runners for this year’s 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot for Marion Recreation on Sunday, November 22. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Pizza with Santa232 viewsThe Marion Police Brotherhood held its annual “Pizza with Santa” on Sunday, December 6, keeping up the tradition of collecting toy donations for its “Stuff a Cruiser” toy drive to benefit those served by the Justice Resource Institute. Turtle Care232 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove. Student Exhibit232 viewsUnder the supervision of art teacher Erin Kirk, the art students at Sippican School will exhibit a collection of works in the Marion Art Center’s Patsy Francis (upstairs) Gallery from February 13-March 11. This show celebrates the immense talent of the Sippican School students and will include several works from each grade level, representing various subjects and mediums.

Marion Natural History Museum232 viewsOn January 24, the Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group investigated different adaptations wild animals make to get through the winter months. We spoke about different types of food sources animals use, as well as their caches/larders and how to identify them in the field. We also had fun working on a bird feeder project to bring home. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000.
