Pinewood Derby234 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. ‘The Secret’234 viewsThe Marion Art Center wrapped up the first session of Artstart with a production of ‘The Secret’ this Friday. The two-week program for children ages four to nine focuses on arts, crafts, music, theater and stories. Program director Nancy Sparklin said the children had great fun and all got along wonderfully. Stars & Stripes Forever Musical Revue234 viewsThe Marion Art Center staged the “Stars & Stripes Forever Musical Revue” last weekend to packed crowds. The rousing show mimicked a USO event, with the audience being entertained as the “troops.” The production featured the “Swanson Sisters from Sheboygan: Dixie, Trixie & Pixie,” (played by Caroline Blaise, Pam Breton, and Denise Bastos) and was hosted by the hilariously funny “Frankie B. Sharpe” (played by Eric Bosworth). The MAC theatre was set up cabaret style, and guests brought their own refreshments.

Marion Boy Scouts234 viewsThe Scouts of Troop 32 Marion Boy Scouts went on a backpacking and camping trip on October 4 and 5 at Camp Yawgoog in Hopkington, Rhode Island. With all of their gear on their backs, the Scouts hiked five miles, including a long leg that went around Yawgoog Pond. This included setting up camp at two different locations for two different nights: Sherwood Forest and Hidden Lake.
