Big Trucks266 viewsDespite the soggy weather on Saturday, May 11th, close to 100 kids of all ages came to Marion Recreation’s Kid’s Equipment Day held at Town Field on Main Street. Kids were able to climb and explore a fire truck, ambulance, bucket truck, police cruiser, street sweeper and construction vehicles. All children received a free fire hat or construction hat. Many volunteers were on hand to assist the kids and to answer any questions.

Coastal Explorations II 266 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago. They hope to be able to reconstruct it for a display in the Museum when it reopens this fall. Photos courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold

Marion Art Center Halloween Parade 266 viewsIt looked as though nearly a thousand people came out for the Marion Art Center Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31. The event gets bigger and better every year, it seems, judging by the number of people and the degree of creativity when it comes to the costumes. Photos by Jean Perry

Marion Natural History Museum266 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Kitty Degroot for sharing her expertise as a beekeeper with our group. The students learned that 10 bees weigh the same as one M&M, and how bees communicate by dancing. We explored beekeeping equipment and which hive box holds the queen and which holds the honey. The museum also wishes to thank the volunteers who assisted with the program. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold
