Marion Natural History Museum362 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed working on crafts made from natural and recycled materials last Wednesday. This was the last after-school program for 2015, and the students had a chance to have some fun decorating as well as enjoying snacks and slides of the past year's programs. Touch-A-Truck 362 viewsMarion Recreation held its 8th annual Touch-A-Truck event at Washburn Park on May 11. The turnout exceeded past Kids Equipment Fun Day events in Marion, especially last year’s, which was repeatedly postponed and then canceled altogether. The evening will be a celebration of Marion's COA and launch the next phase of fundraising by the Friends of the COA for the build-out of floor-to-ceiling walls for existing office space, creating the necessary privacy for townspeople to take advantage of the growing number of services being offered at the Center.

SLT Oyster Fest 362 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Annual Tree Sale361 viewsA Decorating Committee from the Sippican Womans Club produced over 50 festive trees for the Tree Spree, which started in Handys Tavern. The tavern was decked out with themed trees, including a Barbie tree, a Hannukah tree, a Mallard duck tree, and even a tree decorated with recycled items like bottles and plastic bags. Historic Fire361 viewsAlthough the structure suffered significant damage, Tom Dexter says that the building is still structurally sound. Susan Dexter said that, despite the damage, they are more determined than ever to save the building and annex it to their already-existing home at 366 Delano Road.
