4th Fireworks306 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor. Unless the town can secure a permanent source of funding, next year’s fireworks may be in jeopardy. Photo by Felix Perez.

Block Party!306 viewsIt was a little earlier than usual, but the annual Marion Block Party on August 28, 2010 went off without a hitch. Children enjoyed cotton candy, a bounce house and face-painting, while the grown-ups enjoyed conversation and good weather. It was an appropriate send-off to summer, before Old Rochester schools started back up on September 1. Photo by Felix Perez.

The pouring rain didn’t stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children. Clydesdale horses waited patiently to take visitors on a stroll through the village, and the town Christmas tree was lit at Bicentennial Park. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.
