Mattapoisett’s Fire Department16 viewsMattapoisett’s Fire Department opened its doors to the community on October 12 with a grand party filled with family, friends and pizza. The event was an opportunity for the department to highlight fire prevention while tiny tots donned helmets and rang the bell on an antique fire engine. “It’s a great success,” said Chief Andrew Murray of the event that hosted several hundred people of all ages. New Fire Engine Number 3 was on display having just a day before been added to the fleet.

Named after the Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., the preserve includes multiple trails spanning from Angelica Avenue out to Route 6 and in between a vernal pool that has served as an off-campus classroom for local students.
