Lions Club Fall Free Family Fun Festival 21 viewsThe Lions Club Fall Free Family Fun Festival on October 12 brought out the Halloween fun. Bright blue skies graced the heavens while here on earth, children cavorted across Shipyard Park with seasonal tunes playing in the background like “Purple People Eater”.

Salty Soirée21 viewsSince 2007, the Mattapoisett Land Trust has invited the community to a soirée at the site of Salty the Seahorse. The Halloween themed party on October 19 featured musical performances by Jeff and Lisa Dunn, storytelling by the campfire with Karen Chace, and make-your-own s’mores. The entrance to the park at the corner of Route 6 and North Street was lined with luminarias decorated by Center School students. First introduced by MLT member Don Cuddy. Photos by Marilou Newell

Mattapoisett Boatyard Fire20 viewsSmoke rose over Mattapoisett Harbor on August 19 after a boat caught fire during the replacement of a gasoline tank. An explosion followed by a raging fire leveled Mattapoisett Boatyard and destroyed the 14 boats and 47 vehicles on site. Members of the Kaiser family who own the business and members of the McLean family who founded the business surveyed the ruins on the weekend and vow to rebuild.
