Arbor Day121 viewsMattapoisett's Tree Committee held its annual Arbor Day poster contest in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation on March 2. Forty-three Old Hammondtown fifth-grade students participated in this year's contest. The winner will have their poster with the theme "It’s time for trees" entered into the state-wide competition. The poster contest is an ongoing effort by the Tree Committee to enlighten children regarding the importance of trees in our landscapes.

The flag has been on a tour of the country since 2021 stopping at Police and Fire Stations where ceremonies are held to remember the fallen firefighters and police officers whose service in the face of unspeakable horror should never be forgotten.
