Oil Spill Drill23 viewsOn Tuesday, the Town of Mattapoisett hosted a MassDEP-sponsored training course in cooperation with the Town of Fairhaven, representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, Nuka Research and Planning Group and Moran Environmental Recovery. Working the Mattapoisett Harbormaster boat piloted by P.J. Beaudoin were Assistant Harbormaster Robert Clavin and intern Robert Haskell, and on the Mattapoisett Fire Department boat were Firefighter Daniel Cortes and Lieutenant Ross Macedo. Marion's Cushing Community Center23 viewsJunior and senior-year carpentry students from Upper Cape Regional Technical School are building a permanent canopy over the entrance walkway at Marion's Cushing Community Center, formerly the Benjamin Cushing VFW. With the help of the students, the town has been able to fund the materials needed without the associated labor. Wreaths sold out within the first hour of the sale, with swags, table pieces, box designs and special ornaments, all exquisitely hand-decorated

Holiday in the Park23 viewsThe December 10 Holiday in the Park event found the Town of Mattapoisett awash in families having fun. Food and music added to the festive atmosphere, and the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Claus (Mr. and Mrs. Milton Heuberger), Frosty the Snowman (Brian Hiller), one of Santa's reindeer (Ashling McLoughlin) and one of the big guy's most trusted Elves (Jen Scott) brought smiles and picture opportunities.
