The unusual weather event downed power lines and hundreds of trees, knocking out power to many homes north of Route 195. Television news crews descended from Boston, as the Mattapoisett Fire and Police departments worked with utility companies and many power lines to clean up roads and assist area residents coming home to frightening scenes. Holiday at Shipyard Park28 viewsMattapoisett’s annual Holiday at Shipyard Park was held on December 14 to the delight of the young and not-so-young. The family-centered event featured Mr. and Mrs. Clause, Frosty, and Rudolph as well as a really big beach chair. The holiday tree was festooned with decorated buoys in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Refreshments were provided by area eateries offering a wide variety of goodies and fan favorite hot chocolate. Music was provided by local students. Photos by
