A friend of boatyard owner David Kaiser and a "fellow boatyard guy," Moll said people have been generous in the wake of the August 19 fire that destroyed the boatyard, including several widows who offered to donate the contents of their husbands’ sheds and garages.

Taking first place for best centerpiece was Table 29 with its Barbie theme. The Whale, at Table 1, was runner-up, and the Bird table (27) was third. Tornado in Mattapoisett51 viewsAn EF-1 tornado touched down late Tuesday morning in Mattapoisett. The unusual weather event downed power lines and hundreds of trees, knocking out power to many homes north of Route 195. Television news crews descended from Boston, as the Mattapoisett Fire and Police departments worked with utility companies and many power lines to clean up roads and assist area residents coming home to frightening scenes. Christmas Day Plunge51 viewsAt 94, Bob Humphrey was the elder statesman participating in the Christmas Day plunge held at Mattapoisett Town Beach, which including 47 swimmers and raised $2,595 in donations for the benefit of Helping Hands & Hooves.
