Christmas Swim125 viewsKate Butler was last to arrive but last one out of the water after two dozen people braved the cold, raw elements of the 2021 Christmas morning swim held December 25 at Mattapoisett Town Beach. The event was held for the benefit of Helping Hands and Hooves, a program run by Julie Craig and Debbie Dyson that offers experiences, especially horseback riding, to people with cognitive challenges who have aged out of the many children's programs. Food and music added to the festive atmosphere, and the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Claus (Mr. and Mrs. Milton Heuberger), Frosty the Snowman (Brian Hiller), one of Santa's reindeer (Ashling McLoughlin) and one of the big guy's most trusted Elves (Jen Scott) brought smiles and picture opportunities. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Group124 viewsRed, white, and blue was Sharon Doyon’s vision of the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Group as 18 members gathered at the library to plant on May 26 in areas including the pots at the Mattapoisett Historical Society and Town Hall, window boxes at the post office and Town Beach house, the lighthouse garden at the harbor, plus the gardens and planters at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library.
