Holiday in the Park268 viewsIt looked like another record turnout at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett on December 9 for the annual Holiday in the Park and tree lighting. The tent was stuffed with hot foods, cocoa, donuts, Christmas cookies, and the hundreds of people in line to warm up out of the snowy cold. Did you miss the tree lighting? 268 viewsThe ospreys have doing some home renovations, and mother osprey has not left her nest since mid April. The father seems to go fishing, snack on the fish, and bring the rest to the mother. Hopefully, we will see some babies in June. It looks like his fish feast could feed a family of four. Photos by Mary-Ellen Livingstone

Mattapoisett Boatyard Fire268 viewsSmoke rose over Mattapoisett Harbor on August 19 after a boat caught fire during the replacement of a gasoline tank. An explosion followed by a raging fire leveled Mattapoisett Boatyard and destroyed the 14 boats and 47 vehicles on site. Members of the Kaiser family who own the business and members of the McLean family who founded the business surveyed the ruins on the weekend and vow to rebuild.
