The pond and the surrounding nine acres were acquired from Abel and Libania Grace in December, 2006 and will help support environmental diversification in the 178 acres that the MLT owns extending from the Martocci Preserve on Marion Road to the MLT property on Aucoot Road. Triathlon 2009559 viewsOver two hundred athletes participated in this year's Mattapoisett Triathlon on Sunday morning, July 12. The athletes endurance was tested over a course which included a quarter-mile swim, a ten-mile bike ride and a three and three quarters-mile run. The race marks the beginning of the Mattapoisett Lions Club's annual Harbor Days Celebration with events including a craft fair, several suppers and a pancake breakfast , which unfold over the course of the week. Route 6 Crash558 viewsJust before 3pm June 29, 2009 the Mattapoisett Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash at Route 6 and Main Street, which slowed down the already heavy summer traffic. Multiple injuries were reported in the two-vehicle crash to which two ambulances responded. One of the victims was immobilized on a backboard as a precautionary measure while transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation. The Fairhaven and Marion Police Departments also responded to assist at the scene.

Thousands of visitors flocked to the Mattapoisett waterfront for this annual event now in its twenty sixth year. Mattapoisett Library 558 viewsFrom now until the end of June, enjoy the artistic paring of library books and sculpture at the Mattapoisett Library exhibit of works by Nathaniel Fuchs. An epidemiologist by day, Fuchs enjoys creating works from wood. Some have been created from an apple tree that once was a source of play for the Fuchs brothers.
