Route 6 Crash583 viewsAt 1:01pm the Mattapoisett Police and Fire Departments were called out to a one vehicle motor vehicle crash on Route 6 at the Marion town line. The driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit a telephone pole splitting off the bottom of the pole. The driver later refused medical treatment. The Police and Fire Department had to stand by while waiting for NSTAR to secure the power lines which were still energized and causing smoldering fires in the adjacent trees.

Triathlon 2009582 viewsOver two hundred athletes participated in this year's Mattapoisett Triathlon on Sunday morning, July 12. The athletes endurance was tested over a course which included a quarter-mile swim, a ten-mile bike ride and a three and three quarters-mile run. The race marks the beginning of the Mattapoisett Lions Club's annual Harbor Days Celebration with events including a craft fair, several suppers and a pancake breakfast , which unfold over the course of the week. Fish Story580 viewsThe Buzzards Bay Anglers Club hosted the First Annual Gus Casassa Scup Cup fishing tournament at the Mattapoisett Wharves on Saturday, July 11. The event attracted about 20 youngsters aged twelve and younger with each child receiving a new fishing rod and reel as part of their entry.
