Family Fun Festival 346 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Paddleboard Witch346 viewsDan Winsor spotted this witch who ditched her broom for a paddle and stand-up paddle board in Brandt Island Cove on Halloween morning. It did not matter that it was 39 degrees and the wind chill was 29.

Heritage Days 2011345 viewsChildren festooned their bicycles and enjoyed a ride around the village as a part of the 2011 Mattapoisett Heritage Days on August 6. Other Saturday activities included guided village tours, an evening concert and a treasure hunt. Mattapoisett bustled with activities on Saturday, but the bonfire was canceled due to wind, and many Heritage Days activities were canceled on Sunday due to heavy rain. Photos by Felix Perez.

The Militia demonstrated 18th century living, made beef stew, completed drills, and talked about the dentistry methods of that time period. Veteran’s Day 345 viewsOn November 12, members of the Mattapoisett community gathered together at Old Hammondtown Elementary School for their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony. Commander Michael Lamoureux served as emcee of the event while State Representative William Straus, Selectman Paul Silva, Veterans’ Agent Barry Denham and U.S. Navy Lieutenant Scott Burrill addressed the audience.
