Great Community Picnic408 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event. The grounds of the MLT’s Munro Preserve provided the perfect location as nearly 200 people mingled harbor side. Photo by Marilou Newell

Candyland407 viewsCandyland Faire Fun - the rain didn’t stop Holiday-minded buyers from attending the Mattapoisett Congregational Church’s Candyland Faire on November 14, 2009. It was standing-room only as people browsed through tables of hand-knitted sweaters, fudge, baked goods, festive dishes and more. Even Mrs. Claus took a break from her busy schedule to attend! Tropical Storm Earl407 viewsBoth Mattapoisett and Marion docks were busy spots last week when the National Weather Service issued a Hurricane Warning to the region. Plymouth county, in addition to Cape Cod, the Islands, and Bristol county, prepared for Hurricane Earl, a category 3 hurricane that stood the potential to make landfall in southeastern Massachusetts. Instead, Earl skirted just east of the region, hitting the Tri-Town with some rain. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.
