Helping Hands and Hooves is a non-profit (based in Mattapoisett) that is dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons for adults with disabilities. Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset425 viewsOn November 11 following the Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Hammondtown School in Mattapoisett, members of Boy Scout Troop 53 performed a flag decommissioning ceremony at the Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Dunseith Gardens. Flags had been placed in decommissioning boxes built by Drew Robert for his Eagle project. The flags were then collected from the boxes located at the police department, town hall and public library and prepared for burning and burial.

Poker Run424 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible.
