Library Social441 viewsParticipants in the Mattapoisett summer reading program, “Starship Adventure at Your Library,” enjoyed an ice cream social on August 12 at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. Over 227 children and their families participated throughout the summer, and approximately 100 participants came to enjoy the ice cream at the social.

Mattapoisett Fire Department441 viewsOn Sunday, firefighters completed a 110-floor stair climb in full structural firefighting gear in Portland, Maine in honor of the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on 9/11. The climb was sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and each climber was assigned a fallen FDNY firefighters accountability tag with their name and picture, which made the climb that much more important to everyone involved.

The car is named for the star pattern that decorates the front grill. The Galaxie was one of many restored antique cars that filled Shipyard Park at the 2009 Mattapoisett Heritage Days car show.
