Multicultural Festival 440 viewsThe local AFS (American Field Service) held a multicultural festival on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Center School in Mattapoisett. The festival included several stations that displayed information about different cultures from around the world. Exchange students from Thailand, Panama and Northern Germany also enjoyed the festivities. The show stars Lilah Gendreau as night club singer Reno Sweeney, Eddie Gonet IV as Wall Street broker Billy Crocker, Brianna Lynch as the unhappily-engaged Hope Harcourt, Paul Kippenberger as Hope’s wealthy fiancé Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Luke Couto as “Public Enemy Number 13” Moonface Martin, and Kate Marsden as the ostentatious Erma.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students have met her challenge at Old Hammondtown School (OHS). Over the course of the school year, staff members were asked to note students’ acts of kindness towards others.

Gold Medal436 viewsThe Old Hammondtown School orchestra pulled off its fifth straight gold medal at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association competition. As a prize, the orchestra got to play at the Boston Symphony Hall on April 27. This was a bittersweet moment for the orchestra, as it will be the last year that they will enjoy the guidance of their music teachers, Stan Ellis and Jean West, who are both retiring this year.
