Old Hammondtown School’s 5th Grade poster contest48 viewsPaige Mallioux won first place and Willow Ruel second in Old Hammondtown School’s 5th Grade poster contest with the theme “Be a Cool Community, Plant Trees.” The Massachusetts Department Conservation and Recreation (DCR) recognizes Mattapoisett as one of the state’s Tree City USA member municipalities, and one of the town’s member activities is the annual art contest that fosters awareness in next generations about precious resources.

Students combined painted glass and sand art, assisted by Tabor After School Community Service Volunteers, created clay handles for their vases as part of a collaborative project with the Marion Historical Society, participated in 3D printing, and worked on "Once Upon a Time" STEAM activities.
