Tabor Walkout253 viewsTabor students organized a walk out on Friday, April 20, in solidarity with students across the country recognizing the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre. Students placed 18 empty chairs in the Stroud Academic Center Courtyard to symbolize the 17 lives lost in the Parkland shooting, plus one to symbolize the many others affected by these events. Rochester Lions Club252 viewsThe school gave a “giant thank you” to the Rochester Lions Club for the donation of a brand new vision screener to replace the one the Lions Club donated to the school 44 years ago (below, right). School Nurse Michelle Humphrey showed her gratitude by asking students at Old Colony to create a small plaque thanking the Lions Club to be affixed to the side of the vision screener. Kevin Tavares, associate principal, challenged the kids to raise 481 canned goods to top Mr. T’s 480 – they collected over 800 instead! Drama teacher Mark Howland wrote and directed “Human Geometry,” which focused on how mathematical concepts can be used to understand human relationships. Audiences can look forward to another fall production, “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” opening Thursday, November 12, at 7:30 pm at the Will Parker Black Box Theatre.
