The purpose of this spirit-wear fundraiser was to build community support and recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. National Wear Red Day324 viewsFebruary 7 was National Wear Red Day, and the students at the Sippican School assembled for their monthly all-school meeting decked out in red in support of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” raising awareness of the threat of heart disease for women. Intro to TV Production324 viewsAs a culminating activity, Old Rochester Regional High School students in Intro to TV Production, Video Journalism and Bulldog TV, traveled to Boston to view a live broadcast of the noon news at WBZ-TV, a CBS affiliate. Mike Noyce, set designer at WBZ led the group on a tour of the facility. Students were able to view the live broadcast of the news both from the control room and in the studio. After the newscast, anchor Paula Ebben and Meteorologist Barry Burbank fielded questions from the group.

Suites and Sweets324 viewsThere was some astounding talent at Old Rochester Regional on October 16 during its “Suites and Sweets” night, a coffeehouse-style event where students sang or played their musical instruments to the music of their choice. Special Olympics Young Athletes324 viewsRoughly 120 Tabor Academy students volunteered on January 10 to assist with the school’s first session of the Special Olympics Young Athletes™ program held at Tabor. The program offers children ages 3-7 with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to engage in physical activities vital to mental and physical growth. Spearheaded by Math teacher Tim Cleary and Tabor senior Molly Bent, sessions continue January 17 to March 6 (no session February 7) at 2:00 pm at the Fish Center for Athletics

RMS C.A.R.E.S.324 viewsThe fourth-graders at Rochester Memorial School put on a presentation on Thursday, January 26, called RMS C.A.R.E.S. Each fourth grade class represented a word comprising the C.A.R.E.S. acronym: Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control.
