Sayonara, School! 325 viewsDark clouds and raindrops couldn’t dampen the spirits of students and teachers on June 25 when Rochester Memorial School said farewell until next September. Bandleader Chris Williamson, along with teachers and Principal Derek Medeiros, sent the students on their way with the traditional rousing music. The Empty Bowls Project is an international grassroots effort to raise funds and awareness of hunger. The show stars Storm Lanzoni as the charming and rather acrobatic Aladdin, Emma Zhou as Princess Jasmine, plus, not one, but three genies – Cattarinha Nunes as the Genie of the Ring, Jackson Veugen as the Genie of the Jewels, and Nicole Londergan as the Genie of the Lamp. Massachusetts State Geography Bee325 viewsOwen Modracek, a resident of Rochester and 7th-grader at ORRJHS, has qualified to represent the Tri-Town in the Massachusetts State Geography Bee, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Only the top 100 students in the state are invited to compete in the State GeoBee on March 29 at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. Owen won the ORRJHS Geography Bee, and then qualified by taking a state-sponsored exam. State champions then go on to compete in the National Geographic GeoBee in Washington D.C.

The show stars Lilah Gendreau as night club singer Reno Sweeney, Eddie Gonet IV as Wall Street broker Billy Crocker, Brianna Lynch as the unhappily-engaged Hope Harcourt, Paul Kippenberger as Hope’s wealthy fiancé Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Luke Couto as “Public Enemy Number 13” Moonface Martin, and Kate Marsden as the ostentatious Erma.
