For a $30 contribution, participants could Zumba for three hours, and the proceeds of the Zumbathon went to Compassionate Care for ALS in Falmouth, a non-profit organization that provides equipment and support to families affected by ALS. The Zumbathon was in honor of Jeffrey Lawrence, a 47-year-old man living with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

Dragon Crossing405 viewsMattapoisett Animal Officer Kathy Massey was called to the area of Route 6 at the Mattapoisett/Marion line late Friday morning for what turned out to be a Tegu Dragon crossing the road. The 4-foot Tegu was transported to Mattapoisett Animal Hospital for treatment and was then brought to an undisclosed location for nourishment. Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven.
