For a $30 contribution, participants could Zumba for three hours, and the proceeds of the Zumbathon went to Compassionate Care for ALS in Falmouth, a non-profit organization that provides equipment and support to families affected by ALS. The Zumbathon was in honor of Jeffrey Lawrence, a 47-year-old man living with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. Relay for Life368 viewsOver 200 Tri-Town residents gathered to help raise money for the American Cancer Society by participating in the fifth annual Relay for Life. The Relay started at 5:00 pm on Friday June 11 and continued until 12:00 pm on Saturday. Participants walked the track at ORR throughout the night and into the next afternoon as a way to honor cancer survivors and those who lost their battle to cancer. Personalized luminaria bags lined the track, lighting the way for the participants throughout the night.

Volunteers sample water to test oxygen saturation, clarity, temperature and more. Volunteers, especially in Marion, are needed and anyone can get involved. Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven.
