Weekend Storm395 viewsSunday, Yucky Sunday. The Tri-Town received its share of rainy, windy weather after an off-shore gale created nor’easter conditions for SouthCoast Massachusetts on October 18, 2009. Silvershell Beach and Point Road in Marion were hit with high winds and pelting rain. The area still fared better than other sections of the Commonwealth, which received some early snowfall. English Copper Beech Tree395 viewsThe English Copper Beech tree in our backyard is over 250 years old, and last year it was looking sad so in the fall my husband hired a tree expert. He suggested that we stop fertilizing our lawn as it might be harming the tree's root system and gave the tree two applications of organic fish food two months apart. This spring, the tree looks better. My husband was mowing the lawn this morning after the rainfall last evening and saw this fish under the tree. Judy Rosbe

Octoberfest392 viewsThe Sippican Tennis Club was the site of the third annual Buzzard’s Bay Habitat for Humanity Octoberfest on September 19 in Marion Village. Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses.
