Corcordia Launches499 viewsMattapoisett resident Brian Kvilhaug will skipper the new fishing vessel, Concordia, which was launched in Fairhaven on Friday, December 2, 2011. The 95-foot, 199-ton steel scallop boat is the first built in the area in the past 50 years, and was built at D. N. Kelly’s shipyard in Fairhaven. The Concordia was christened by Allison Kvilhaug, daughter of the skipper. It replaces the original Concordia built in 1946. Photo by Tony Lopes.

Habitat for Humanity496 viewsBuzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity recently held a Cape Cod Canal boat cruise fundraiser for their next build. The event was very well attended with lots of great food from local restaurants. The premier sponsor of the event was Pilgrim Bank. Habitat was able to raise $5,000 for their upcoming build.

Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!495 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research.
