Memorial Day Boat Race231 viewsDan Lawrence and William D. Watling III of Rochester (above left) broke the race record, winning the men’s division with a time of 1:46:59. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated. Tri-Town Relay for Life231 viewsHundreds of residents attended the Tri-Town Relay for Life last weekend, raising nearly $40,000 for the American Cancer Society. The overnight event included a candlelight vigil for family and friends whose lives were taken by the disease, as well as a celebration for those who have survived it. Photos by Felix Perez.

National Night Out231 viewsThe Tri-Town’s inaugural edition of National Night Out drew a big and enthusiastic crowd on Tuesday. Residents watched the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department’s Ken Ballinger demonstrate K-9 tactics, got a feel for SWAT, EMS, and Fire vehicles; and enjoyed pizza and ice cream. Olde Field Farm231 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Rochester Land hosted a joint walk at the Olde Field Farm property on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23. Hikers walked through the pinewood trails and through the frozen wetlands surrounding the Mattapoisett River, looking for animal tracks in the snow and admiring the natural beauty Rochester has to offer. Nature Explorers231 viewsMattRec and the Marion Natural History Museum partnered for the second year to provide "Nature Explorers" summer program. The students explored several different locations around Mattapoisett this year. We visited Land Trust property off Mattapoisett Neck Road and Bob Field gave us a tour of his Oyster farming operation.
