Tour de Crème315 viewsThis year’s 4th annual Tour de Crème raised $12,000 for outdoor recreation in Mattapoisett! There were 350 riders consuming over 1,200 scoops of ice cream all for a good cause. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated. SCC Car Wash314 viewsThe SouthCoast Children’s Chorus – along with parents and patrons – scrubbed for bucks during a car wash at the Mattapoisett Fire Station on Saturday afternoon, raising money for their general fund with a busy performance schedule coming up. “We hold fundraisers to support the work, the growth, and the performances of the Chorus,” Artistic Director Leslie Piper said. “We want every child to be able to sing, so we offer tuition scholarships for those who need them.” Photo by Shawn Badgley.

Lions Awards314 viewsOn January 10, 2014, at the Mid-Winter Conference of District 33S, Lions Clubs International was held at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor, Plymouth, MA. International Association of Lions Clubs President Barry J. Palmer of Berowra, NSW, Australia, was guest speaker and presenter of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to six Mattapoisett Lions. This award, among the highest in Lionism, was earned by the recipients for outstanding dedication to Humanitarian Services within their community.
