Eeeeeeee431 viewsEastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) is on everyone’s minds this week as the state grapples with how to address the high levels of EEE found in mosquito samples. The Mattapoisett, Marion and Rochester Boards of Health canceled all evening activities on town grounds, and announced 6:00 pm closures of ball parks, playgrounds and town beaches as a result of what the state is calling a public health threat.

Harbor Days 2015431 viewsThe weather was fine for Harbor Days, the annual week-long event organized by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Supermoon Eclipse431 viewsA blood red Harvest Moon hangs above Ned’s Point in Mattapoisett where some people had a stellar view of the rare celestial event of a total lunar eclipse of a supermoon. Dozens came to watch the moon on Sunday night as it passed through the Earth’s shadow between 9:07 pm, when the partial eclipse began, and 12:27 am when the spectacle ended. Photo by Colin Veitch

Autumn431 viewsThe fall foliage in this Mattapoisett village tree endured last week’s rain and wind well into the weekend, keeping observers suspended in another moment of autumnal bliss. If you look again closely you might see someone familiar staring back at you. Photo by Colin Veitch. November 5, 2015 edition

Plasticastrophe! 431 viewsIt doesn’t matter that she’s about to be eaten by King Kong – Barbie stays smiling, as do all the Barbies planted in Teresa Dall’s “Barbie Garden” of 16 North Street in Mattapoisett. Here, Barbie manages to display a little Fourth of July spirit while making imminent annihilation appear blissful. Photo (and flag accessory) by Jean Perry - July 5, 2018 edition
