There are lots of environmental efforts going on in the Tri-Town lately, including an upcoming ORR Tri-Town farmers’ market, a new community garden in Mattapoisett, and talk of solar panels at Old Hammondtown School. Hurricane of 1938523 viewsMattapoisett resident Tim Smith purchased a collection of original Hurricane of 1938 photographs from an auction recently. The photographs show the devastation of the legendary hurricane in the area of Mattapoisett’s Silver Shell Beach and Angelica Point. Mr. Smith does not believe that the pictures have ever been published, and gave The Wanderer the first chance at publishing the photos. He intends on donating the collection to the Mattapoisett Historical Museum. Photos courtesy of Tim Smith.
