Still Running...490 viewsThey keep you running. The Mattapoisett Road Race Committee, pictured here in their committee t-shirts, has been hard at work over the past year to bring a celebration worthy of the 40-year benchmark. That’s right ¬– the Mattapoisett Road Race has been a part of your Fourth of July celebrations for 40 years! And with all that running, a lot of Old Rochester Regional students have benefitted from the scholarship money that the race raises. Here’s to another 40 years. Colorblindness Corrective Glasses489 viewsI was colorblind, but now I see – The Mattapoisett Lions Club has donated a pair of colorblindness corrective glasses to the Mattapoisett Library, and are now part of the library’s ever-growing collection of ‘things’ to check out. Last time, my partner Scott and I checked out a metal detector and had ourselves an adventure. This time, we checked out the glasses and took them around town to see if Scott, who was born with a red-green color vision deficit, could catch a glimpse of a world in vivid color.

Strong as steel 488 viewsShe’s got her heavy duty gloves, helmet, and her steel-toe boots, and she’s ready to show a group of boys and girls that welding is cool, fun, and definitely for girls. Rochester’s Emma Makuch, a freshman at Old Colony, is also a Junior Friend of the Plumb Library and on February 19 she shared her knowledge with a group of kids as part of the library’s February vacation lineup to keep kids entertained and learning.
