Living History 282 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Enraptured by Raptors 487 viewsThis tiny Eastern screech owl captured the hearts and attention of a sizeable audience – not with its sharp talons, but with its big yellow eyes, tiny ear tufts, and sweet, spooky song. The Marion Natural History Museum hosted a Birds of Prey night, with guests learning about raptors and even getting to meet a few of them from the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.
