Books for Sippican1763 viewsSippican School in Marion was the recipient of a very generous donation recently. Jason Zutaut, an executive with Strictly by the Book, heard about the need to expand the collection in the school’s Reading Book Room, which teachers use as a book resource. Unfortunately, it was limited to books for Kindergarten through Grade 3. When Mr. Zutaut heard about the “wish list” compiled by staff members at Sippican, he immediately responded with a generous donation of several books.Mar 14, 2006

Survivor Lessons1094 viewsOn March 3, a holocaust survivor visited Meg McKeon’s History class at Old Rochester Regional High School to share her memories from the war. Ms. Elizabeth Dopazo, an eleven-year-old at the time of the war, she was invited to speak to Ms. McKeon’s class through an organization called Facing History and Ourselves. “These students really are the last generation who will be able to meet a survivor face to face,” Ms. McKeon said.Mar 14, 2006

Spring Swing1259 viewsOn March 3, the Mattapoisett Youth Baseball Association (MYBA) sponsored their first annual “Spring Swing.” The event was held at Center School, kicking off the 2006 baseball season for the Town of Mattapoisett. This fundraising event gave the children of Mattapoisett an opportunity to showcase their batting skills, raise some money and have fun. This would not have been successful or even remotely possible without the participation, assistance and support of many parents and special guests.Mar 10, 2006
