Dog's Beach377 viewsAmy Hardwick, a Mattapoisett resident, is petitioning to make Goodspeed Island the official dog beach in town. The town has been working to keep the dog waste bag dispenser full, after abutting neighbors have complained about trash and dog waste at Goodspeed. If the petition gets 100 signatures, Goodspeed could be made a dog beach at the next town meeting. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.Jun 30, 2010

Life of a Dog367 views“Clark Davis And Her Dogs” is the theme of the Marion Art Center's Fourth of July float, which will be in the Marion parade on July 5. Cecil Clark Davis (1877-1955), an animal lover, was one of Marion's most famous artist residents and is remembered for her elegant portraits. In the spirit of Cecil and her dogs, the Marion Art Center invites dog owners to participate in their festive float for the "WestMarionster Dog Show." The parade route is about two miles. Please call 508-748-1266 to participate. Jun 30, 2010

Circus Time448 viewsEveryone was just clowning around when the circus came to Rochester on June 23 and 24, 2010. Camels, elephants, tigers, oh my! The kids had a great time until the big tent, and can’t wait until next year to see the circus again. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.Jun 30, 2010

Barn Tour352 viewsOver 60 carloads of people enjoyed the second annual Rochester Land Trust Barn Tour on June 27, 2010. With eight barns on the route, enthusiasts got to explore this fascinating part of the New England landscape. Some, like the Hiller farm barn, are still in use, and others on the tour were well-kept relics of our agricultural past. Photo by Anne O’Brien-KakleyJun 30, 2010
