Mattapoisett Land Trust43 viewsOn May 6, volunteers from the Mattapoisett Land Trust planted over two dozen sunflower seedlings in a row along Route 6 at Dunseith Park, just in front of Salty the Seahorse. Don Cuddy donated the seedlings and organized the planting as a symbolic gesture of MLT standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Helping Hands and Hooves49 viewsOn April 30, a fundraising craft fair was held at the Red Oak Garden on the site of the Helping Hands and Hooves' garden on Aucoot Road in Mattapoisett. Organic materials produced on the acreage were made into various ornamental and utilitarian items, allowing the grace and beauty of nature's bounty to shine through. Delighting the children were two Nigerian goats owned by Emerald Heirloom Farm, Mattapoisett. The goats are part of a planned experiment by farmers Ruby Pasquill and Jonathan MacDugall, who are using sustainable farming practices. Next step for the farmers is planting vegetables using organic methods. The couple plans on partnering with a Rochester family farm in a swap of chickens in lieu of rent. Photo by MarApr 27, 2022
