Originally built in 2004, the playground ground cover naturally decomposes over time and needs to be filled in periodically. Recycling Friends591 viewsThe recycling team at Friends Academy has been hard at work. To date, they have recycled 2.705 tons of paper which earned Friends Academy $13.52. In addition they have saved 18 cubic yards of landfill space and 11098 KWH of electricity, which prevented 5.42 tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. Members of the recycling team pictured here include Alan Andonian, Ian Coyne, TJ Lee, Alex Cannell, Reilly West, Tim McNamara, Logan Russell, Oliver Stone, Connor MacLean and Conor Caffrey.

Beachside Tribute471 viewsUMass Dartmouth's Kikele Drumming Ensemble performs as friends and relatives of Curtis Doherty joined forces with the Marion DPW to spruce up the Silvershell Beach bath house in Marion over the past several weekends, painting it with environmentally-friendly, low VOC paint. Curtis spent countless hours over his lifetime on Silvershell Beach’s basketball court and last year teammates and friends designed and constructed granite and wood benches for the basketball court in Curtis’ memory.
