Marion Natural History Museum178 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Explorations summer nature program had a wonderful time last week exploring a diverse selection of natural areas. We investigated marshes, bogs, vernal pools, and upland forest habitats and the plants and animals that call these areas home. The museum would like to thank the Marion Harbormaster's office for allowing us access to Bird Island to take a look at some of our more rare and endangered birds and their nesting habitat. Traditional land and seascapes in oil, watercolors, and pastels are punctuated by a few surprises such as metal art, weavings, and paper collages. Another must-see-to-be-believed opportunity to be refreshed by art. Photos by Marilou Newell
