Marion Natural History Museum169 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Exploration summer program had a lot of fun last week exploring a variety of habitats in Marion. We took a close look at barrier beaches, vernal pools, salt marshes, and tide pools. We learned about the terns on Bird Island, the salamanders and tadpoles in vernal pools, and netted fish along the coastline. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold

Library Zoo110 viewsLauren Paine of Pine Meadows Farm located in Mattapoisett, along with her father, Jeff, brought members of their “herd” to the Elizabeth Taber Library in Marion on July 8. Well over 100 people of all ages enjoyed the opportunity to visit with and learn about exotic animals. The younger members of the crowd listened intently as they heard about the eating habits and habitats of bearded dragons, Nigerian goats, lop-eared rabbits, tortoises, and alpacas, for which the farm is known.
