One in a Million1113 viewsOne-year-old Madison Gallant of Marion was recently the millionth visitor to Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford since the zoo’s re-opening in August of 2000. Madison was accompanied by her mother, Kate Ostneberg, who was the millionth and one visitor to the zoo. Kate and Madison received a free zoo membership, a $100 shopping spree at the North Woods Gift Store, a train ride around the zoo, and lunch at the Bear’s Den Café.

Show-stopping Benefit1115 viewsShowstoppers Musical Entertainment, a community-service vocal troupe comprised of 22 local children, recently raised $1400 for the American Red Cross. The talented singing group held their Disaster Relief Concert, “Rockin’ Through The Ages,” on November 5 in a packed hall at the Knights of Columbus in Mattapoisett. The program showcased the children performing a musical revue spanning five decades.

Veterans Day Speaker1175 viewsLieutenant Commander Daniel Parilla, USN, of the Newport Naval War College will be the Principal Speaker at the Mattapoisett Veterans Day Ceremonies on Friday, November 11 starting at 11:00 am at Old Hammondtown School. LCDR Parilla wears the Heroic Action Air Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, and two Strike Flight Air Medals, along with various other commendations.
