Touch-A-Truck 440 viewsMarion Recreation held its 8th annual Touch-A-Truck event at Washburn Park on May 11. The turnout exceeded past Kids Equipment Fun Day events in Marion, especially last year’s, which was repeatedly postponed and then canceled altogether. The weather was sublime this year, drawing hundreds to the park for some fun and free food courtesy of the Recreation Department. Photos by Jean Perry May 16, 2019 edition

Turtle Power463 viewsHello, there. I’m a handsome, male painted turtle from Rochester currently making my habitat at Doggett’s Brook. I enjoy sunning myself on rocks and logs and swimming in the slow-moving water, and eating insects, fish, and plants. I don’t have any teeth, but I have cool stripes and razor-sharp claws. I’m looking for a female who loves basking in the warm sun, mating, and wants lots of kids. April 4, 2019 edition

Eastover Donkey606 viewsIt’s been ‘donkey’s ears’ since we’ve featured a furry friend from Eastover Farm on our cover! This donkey was out Saturday afternoon sniffing around patches of ground that weren’t still covered with snow. It strolled over to say hello until the ‘click’ of the camera shutter spooked it into another direction towards another snow-free patch of ground. Photo by Jean Perry February 28, 2019 edition

Strong as steel 456 viewsShe’s got her heavy duty gloves, helmet, and her steel-toe boots, and she’s ready to show a group of boys and girls that welding is cool, fun, and definitely for girls. Rochester’s Emma Makuch, a freshman at Old Colony, is also a Junior Friend of the Plumb Library and on February 19 she shared her knowledge with a group of kids as part of the library’s February vacation lineup to keep kids entertained and learning. A Work of Heart 447 viewsA regular strand of lights can be tricked out in a photo by cutting a tiny heart shape into a black piece of construction paper and attaching it to the front of the lens. We made this as our Valentine to you, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester! Photo by Jean Perry
