Tops in Tennis1043 viewsWinners of the Seventh Annual Mattapoisett Community Tennis Association (MCTA) Tournament held on June 30 include (l. to r.) Mike Ailes, Mattapoisett; Sugar Broughton, Wareham; Dave King, East Wareham; and Wayne Miller, Mattapoisett. The MCTA is a non-profit organization for tennis players in the tri-town area and surrounding communities. The goal of the MCTA is to promote area tennis and eventually rebuild three tennis courts at Center School in Mattapoisett.

Coaches Kate Souza (left) and Polly Lawrence (right) volunteered their time each Monday night for 24 weeks from October to April, ending the season with a championship game against Mansfield.

Spring Swing1193 viewsOn March 3, the Mattapoisett Youth Baseball Association (MYBA) sponsored their first annual “Spring Swing.” The event was held at Center School, kicking off the 2006 baseball season for the Town of Mattapoisett. This fundraising event gave the children of Mattapoisett an opportunity to showcase their batting skills, raise some money and have fun. This would not have been successful or even remotely possible without the participation, assistance and support of many parents and special guests.
