Despite an aggressive education campaign on the part of the Mattapoisett Fire Department, voters once again turned down a $4.58 million proposal to build a new Fire Station. A total of 1,973 voters said “no,” while 1,808 said “yes” — a small margin of just 165 votes. Town Clerk Barbara Sullivan reported there were an additional 254 blanks on ballot Question #4.
