SLT “Birds & Flutes” Benefit Concert

Flutist Wendy Rolfe will present a benefit concert, “Birds & Flutes”, for the Sippican Lands Trust on Thursday, August 25, at 6 pm at 173 Spring Street in Marion. Rolfe’s “piffano” folk flute from Brazil, quena from Ecuador and “di-zi” from Beijing, China, will all evoke the sounds of birds and colorful landscapes. Her wooden Baroque and classical flutes are perfectly suited to the resonant acoustics of the barn at the Buzzards Bay Coalition building at the corner of Spring Street and Route 6, where the concert will be held.

Rolfe is a Professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and can also be heard with Boston Baroque, the Handel and Haydn Society and the Cape Symphony. She just returned from recording and performing in Brazil and performing at the National Flute Association’s 50th Anniversary Convention in Chicago. She is a former member of the Sippican Lands Trust Board of Directors.

Tickets are $25 each for members and $50 each for nonmembers with proceeds benefitting the Sippican Lands Trust. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit sippicanlandstrust.org or call the Sippican Lands Trust office at 508-748-3080.
