NexTrex Challenge

Once again, Rochester Memorial School is participating in the NexTrex Recycling Challenge. The community can help RMS become successful in the challenge. The challenge begins on November 15 and ends on April 15, also known as Earth Day.  To help, residents can put  plastic film in the NexTrex bins located at  Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library, Friend’s Market, and Rochester Memorial School.

The following plastics can be collected:  Pallet wrap, pellet bags, stretchy wraps, grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry-cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, Ziplock™ and other resealable food bags, produce bags, product wrap, retail bags, bubble wrap and air pillows, plastic shipping envelopes and electronic wrap, plastic films labeled with a #2 or a #4 recycling symbols, ice bags, cereal box liners, salt bags, plastic with NexTrex labels, colored plastics, and any plastic that stretches when you pull on it may be collected.

Examples of what not to put in these bins are plastics like pet food bags, shiny bags, candy bar wrappers, chip bags, bags that are dirty or have wet food inside, or are labeled degradable.

The objective of the NexTrex challenge is to collect the most plastic film by Earth Day. The prize of the challenge is a brand-new bench made out of Trex material for the winning school.
